Ken is the founder and president of Bleakly Advisory Group. He has been a practicing real estate consultant and advisor for over 30 years. Ken’s areas of practice include: market and financial analysis, public/private partnerships, workforce housing, public finance and project implementation. He has assisted clients on a national basis with complex real estate issues. He has designed innovative economic development strategies and assisted with corporate relocation and incentive negotiations. Ken has been involved in the creation and implementation of more than 25 tax allocation districts for cities and counties in Georgia.
After more than 16 years in real estate consulting, in 1996 Ken had the opportunity to apply his skills directly to implementation. From 1996 to 2001 Ken served as president of COPA, Inc., a non-profit development entity formed by Central Atlanta Progress, Inc. to spearhead the redevelopment around Centennial Olympic Park. It was one of the most fulfilling periods of his career.
Ken’s passion for the city building process was initially sparked by his reading of Robert Caro’s biography of Robert Moses, “The Power Broker”.
Gary L. Mongeon has participated in the planning and execution of a diverse range of real estate developments over his 30-year career, both as a consultant and implementer. Gary joined BAG in 2007 and has been involved in a wide range of major assignments including the Peachtree Corridor Streetcar, the reuse of Fort McPherson and Fort Gillem and a series of assignments for the Jekyll Island Authority. Gary’s expertise includes market and demographic analysis, pro forma and financial modeling, economic development and assessing the economic impacts of projects and programs.
Prior to joining Bleakly Advisory Group, Gary worked for three years as the head of the Marietta Redevelopment Corporation, where he successfully implemented redevelopment plans and secured tax increment financing for residential and commercial revitalization projects. He has also worked for nearly 20 years as a private development consultant, managing approximately 200 assignments in locations throughout the Eastern US.
After spending the first part of his career in New England, he has developed an appreciation for the mild climate of Georgia, particularly as it results in more days available for a good round of golf.
Amy joined Bleakly Advisory Group in 2004 as a consultant. Amy’s practice focuses on research and analysis for local governments, private developers, and non-profit organizations. She has worked extensively on market and demographic analyses for redevelopment projects, transportation related-development both at transit stations and along highway corridors, preparation of redevelopment plans and financial projections for tax allocation districts and workforce and affordable housing strategies.
Prior to joining Bleakly Advisory Group, Amy worked for Kingsley Associates as a project manager on a number of real estate operational benchmarking studies. She also was an intern for the Georgia Department of Community Affairs dealing with issues of housing affordability, low income housing tax credits and affordable housing preservation.
Amy is a strong believer in Atlanta’s mass transit system, MARTA, and effectively travels through much of the Atlanta region without ever resorting to the use of a car.
Jonathan Gelber joined BAG as a Senior Consultant in 2008, Jonathan brought with him years of experience in urban planning and real estate analysis. Jonathan’s practice areas have included analyzing the development impacts associated with new transportation infrastructure including commuter rail, light rail, bus and arterial highways. He has also worked on economic development strategies and tax allocation district redevelopment plans. He has significant experience in preparing redevelopment strategies for the Livable Communities Initiative (LCI) program of the Atlanta Regional Commission.
Prior to joining BAG, Jonathan was a Senior Planner for the City of Atlanta’s Department of Planning and Community Development. He was responsible for managing long-range planning studies, economic development, and special projects. Prior to that, Jonathan worked as an urban planning consultant in Atlanta and Portland and as a public-sector planner with the City of New York and the State of North Carolina.
Jonathan also spent time working as a professional chef at restaurants in Portland, Atlanta and South Carolina.
